Portsmouth Street Pastors are looking forward to their forthcoming celebration as they commission the 2010 street pastor graduates on Saturday the 27th March, at The Venue, Oasis, Arundel Street.

The ceremony will also be attended by local supporters together with representatives from the police and city council.

Street Pastors are all Christian volunteers who give up their time to care and help vulnerable people. They are very active in the city night club spots working alongside the police to bring a helping hand to anyone in distress. These modern day good Samaritans undergo intensive and specialist training prior to any street assignment. The Commissioning service is set to release the latest batch of trained recruits.

Elly Mulvany is the Co-ordinator of Portsmouth Street Pastors, she says “We continue to grow from strength to strength with another 8 in training, and over 50 currently in 8 teams who are out monthly covering every Friday and Saturday night 10-3am.
Volunteers come from 40 churches and we have fun offering this invaluable service together”

The event starts at 4.45pm and will finish at 6.00pm when refreshments will be served. Anyone wishing to attend can find out more details by emailing Portsmouth@streetpastors.org.uk
