The aim is to establish a hub offering support and direction to anyone encountering any form of issue involving debt or the management of money problems. Based on Christian values, principles and ethics, being sensitive to the needs of the individual and/or their family, and in complete confidence (apart from where the safety of others or the individual may be at risk), the hub will endeavour to either offer the appropriate support, or direct the individual to another suitable support provider. The hub itself aims to be accredited or attached to an established non-profit-making organisation, and will not make any charges or fees whatsoever. If however, the hub will direct the person to another individual or organisation where there is possibly a charge, the hub will make the individual aware of this wherever possible. It is not the intention for the Network to detract from already-established debt facilities etc – quite the opposite – the intention is to direct people to these facilities, but to act as a mentor to support the individual through that process.

John Twine one of the founders of this new initiative says: " Our vision is to bring together as many resources from churches across the City as possible, so that there is widespread availability for people with debt issues to have a central contact. They can then be diverted to the most appropriate resource that already exists in the churches of the city, but with someone from Money Mates acting as a mentor if required "

There will be an opportunity to learn more at a launch meeting at City Life Church on Saturday the 29th September, John adds "The launch is really to get the interest of the local church community, but also in the hope that churches who offer anything debt-related already (or have plans to) will come to the launch and give me their info so that we can divert people to them accordingly. It would be good if people were able to confirm to me in advance if they are attending so that I can gauge the viability, and the numbers for catering."
